Permissions and Roles
Why a command might refuse to work, and how to fix it fast.
Every command checks two things before it runs: whether you have the right permission, and whether Ethvex has the right permission. Each command page lists both.
Role hierarchy #
Discord only lets you act on members whose highest role sits below yours in the role list. Ethvex follows the same rule, and it also checks its own role. So for a ban to work:
- Your highest role must be above the member's highest role.
- The Ethvex role must be above the member's highest role.
- Nobody can act on the server owner, on themselves, or on Ethvex itself.
Quick fix
If you see a hierarchy error, go to Server Settings → Roles and drag the Ethvex role higher. That fixes most problems.
